1975 Omega value
1975 Omega value
Hello
I'm new to this site. I have a 1975 Omega, The body has some bad spots but could be repaired. The worst is on the roof and the front frame. The engine is a 260, it runs very well. Overall the car is very original, but it is on the rough side. I'm wondering if anyone out there could give me a realistic idea of the value. Omega's do not seem to be a popular model. I'm trying to deside what to do with this car. Any information would be helpful!

This a question that has plagued car owners since... Do you have any pic's to give us an idea of condition?? It would be helpful also if you can describe the good points and the bad points of it. What improvements have been made to it etc...?
I don't have any pics right now. I just got the car three days ago, so I haven't been able to check it thoroughly yet. The body needs lower quater panels, not the whole panel as far as I can tell. I found the lower panels for under 40.00 each. the floors and the rocker panels look very good. The back frame and both front and back bumpers are in nice condition. The doors are desent, but do need patched toward the front. The front fenders are desent but do need some patch work as well. The hood is good shape and so is the trunk lid. The worst spots are the front frame between the spring mounts and the stablizer bar. And the core support under the radiator. The roof had a vynil top and it rotted the roof in several places. The interior is in good shape. The color is red. I don't think there are any rips in the seats or the dash. The car definitely has many good parts. I just don't know if it is worth restoring or not. The engine sounds good and the trans shifts right away. The owner just let it sit, so the brakes are no good. It has 14" Olds wheels with nice tires. Everything functions on it even the windshield washer fluid works. The glass is all in good shape. That is all that I can think of for now. I will try to get some pics posted. Thanks!
Not too sure of value, but to give an idea I paid about $5000 five years ago for my 74 Omega S, just the way you see it.
I have done lots to it from the motor to trans to rear end, but none of that needed to be done. It ran fine and was 100% stock when i got it. Even came with Cragar SS wheels with BFG's on them as well as with SSIII with bolt on centers with excellent rubber on them as well.

The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a '75 Omega in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs full restoration) at just over $1,000. To be frank, given your description, I wouldn't be inclined to pay much more than that, or even that much.
Thanks for the information. I'm trying to post pics but have not been able. If anyone here is interested in the car I could e-mail the pics. I've decided that this is not a good time for me to restore this car. Maybe someone else could or maybe someone needs a good parts car.
Good luck selling it. Just keep in mind that the Omegas have never had a significant following. To many people, they were just rebadged Chevy Novas. It could take a while to find a buyer, particularly given the car's condition. As you say, the person most likely to be interested in your car is someone restoring another one who might need yours for parts.
There may be two people in the country who fit that description!

Tough crowd...but I know them both...
I may need to get the West Coast David Cookman to join in.
But it's the truth...even on Oldsmobile forums and boards, Omegas are like the "red headed step-child" of Oldsmobiles....

If you like the car restore it.Trust me not to many people make money even on the more popular cars.I've got more money in my 74 Omega than I care to admit to.Would I sell it at any price,no.If you want a car that no one else has the Omega is the one.

I was trying to get an idea from others as to the demand for this car. I placed it up for sale and have had alot more inquiries than I expected, based on what I had been told. Several people are anxious to check it out. We'll see what happens.
I have a 1975 omega that I paid 1500 for. The description is about the same as the OP. At the rate I'm going, the restoration will be done about 2025, but as of right now, I can just hop in and drive it anywhere.. I wouldn't hesitate to pay 1500 again.
here's videos of mine, so you can compare it to yours.
I hope this helps.
