weird 72 cutlass
I've got a Cutlass that looks to be a 72, but it has some very strange parts. First of all the quarter panel side markers are not simply lights mounted into the panel, but are stylized rocket symbols punched through the steel. The standard lights are glued to the inside of the fender with GM original body sealer. The front and rear bumpers bolt on in the normal places but they don't use carriage bolts w/chrome button heads. They are attached with studs that are welded onto the back of the bumper. The back bumper has no back up lights. None. NO holes in the bumper, NO provision whatsoever for backup lights. This car has a 442 style ram air hood. It has a 4.11-1 Posi. rear end. The vin# says the car came out of Arlington Texas with a Rocket 350 4bbl. I've been playing with these cars since I took my driving test in one I still own in 1971. I've built and restored over a dozen 70-72 Oldsmobiles in the last 20 years. I"ve been to a few shows, and I have never seen anything like this car. If you know what this model is called and how many were built I'd like to hear from you. My E-mail; mellorrhsd@comcast.net, and my local phone in Ft. Myers FL is 239-275-7072. Ask for Johnny. Peace and Joy of the Season....

Welcome.
As they say "This thread is worthless without pics".
Sounds cool, maybe it's a customized factory show car or something like that?
This one in the pic below is interesting, nice color.
