Someone please help me..:)
Hey guys--
I still haven't located an engine for my Cutlass yet but I am from Missouri and was checking the local classifieds for an engine. I found a few engines for sale and had a couple questions. I found a 1991 Chevrolet Z28 350 engine for sale. Would that fit my 1985 Cutlass? If so, what transmission would I have to get in order for it to work? I also found an Olds 455 with 52K miles. What transmission would I need for this one? And the other engine that I found was just a Chevrolet 350 engine. Would this one work at all? If so, what transmission with this one?
Thanks guys for all your help. I appreciate it.

I'm going to give this a try since I know there isnt too many people on this site. The other engines would work but you would probaly need to change the engine mounts. If your car has the same frame as the chevy equivlant, then you could use mounts off a chevy.
I am sure that Chevrolet and Olds have different transmission bolt patterns. Check this out: http://tech.oldsgmail.com/trans_bp.php. There are adapters out there somewhere if you want to put a chevy on an oldsmobile. Me, I would try to keep it simple and keep the olds engine with an olds tranny and likewise with the chevy.

Keep it simple
That would be my take on it also. Keep it simple and stick with what you have. If you have to have a small block Chevy, then try to find a Monte that you can play with and build that car. There will be no headaches with items not fitting or matching up. Another recommendation is if you are going to build up a performance street car, try not to have this car as you everyday driver.
