I tried a custom autosound just last year. The display only lit up on half and it didn't sound very good. The company seemed disintrested in helping besides suggesting it was my fault and that I had connected it wrong. I wired the efi on the same car with a factory manual and it fired the first time, pretty sure I could wire a cd player that had tags on each wire. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

What about something like this? I know it says 66/67 but the radio area on the 65 is identical IIRC. I found them doing a search for 1970-72 AM/FM Stereo Units. The 70-72 units have the traditional ***** and tuners though. Price on this isn't terrible either.

I use stock AM/FM/8-track decks in my cars with these awesome adapters.

They work great, are easy to install and they have units that will work with any radio. They use a headphone jack so you can plug in just about anything from your smartphone, ipod, etc.

Check this guy out. You send him your ,original radio and he sends it back a fully digital conversion using the original controls. It is amazing! Love the one he did for my 72.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I will go with the RetroSound Radio. From what I have seen and heard ,it sounds like a good buy. Later on down the road,I may go with Sampson suggestion and have my old radio refurbished to a modern one. Once again Thanks for all replies . Rick
