quadrajet missing the "70"

Why do some Quadrajets not have the 70... the first two numbers in the serial number? and does this mean anything? I have a 69 with number 29250 (should be 7029250).

I have a 29251 myself so maybe it is just a few 69 carbs that had this?!?

the "70" was implied on some of the early roll-stamped carbs; nothing special.

Yes, I also have a 29250 from a 1969 engine. Thanks Bill, I've wondered about this too. John
