Old Gas.

Any one have any suggestions for what to put in the tank to help dissolve all
the gum that has built up on the inside of the tank? It has set in the garage
for 20 + years with over half a tank of fuel. I dropped the tank and pulled the
sending unit and it was gummed up pretty bad.

Thanks!

Methanol (wood alcohol, denatured alcohol).

Dissolves that crap pretty well.

If you can get a larger quantity, like a 5 gallon pail, it'll be cheaper.
