kneeling on hard ground while working on car?

today I found a neat thing to use while working on the car and kneeling. i used one of those large clear heavy duty carpet (w/ the wierd shape) covers/protectors used for desk chairs.

it was very comfortable to kneel on, stuff won't scratch as easy as if you put it down on driveway or cement, it waterproof if ground is wet and wipes off easy if something drips or spills on it.

if you have an old one you're thinking of getting rid of,before you do,give it a shot.

Great idea
I have used tarps, nearby hoods at the boneyard.

One great material- 1" thick blue house insulation board. If teh ground is icy or cold, this is superb. Small pcs can be kneeled on and it really saves the knees.

You can also buy the vinyl cover foam pads from lisle. I think it's the jeepers creaper pad. Best 25 bucks I ever spent.

I use pieces of old carpet, also easy to find in the garbage, or, when it's damp, I have a commercial entryway floor mat (rubber on the bottom, rug-like on top).

New fenders and doors are wrapped in a heavy thick protective cover that is compressed foam plastic on one side and regular plastic like a tarp on the other. Best of both worlds - foam that cushions and plastic that is water proof and will clean up. Any collision or body shop will have this stuff and throw it out.

Also the carpet trunk liners in newer cars. We used to take em from total loss cars and use them too. They where nice for when we had snow. They would carpet up top rubber underneath.
