DPT headers for '65
anybody try these?, they're selling them off ebay through craigslist for $158 about 20 minutes from my house http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLDSMOBILE-R...3d6e93&vxp=mtr
half tempted but i'm worried since the CL add says no returns.. think with a BFH and map gas i could make it work?

I imagine if you were to tell them you'd pick them up with cash, you'd get them even cheaper!

i don't think i'm going to try but for $158 they look nice, if only there wasn't the issue of fitting right in my '65. found a camaro forum where a couple of guys said they fit great, but thats chevy..everybody makes headers for them lol.
last winter i did some extensive research on these. Found about 2 guys who had actually bought them who could provide real world feedback & photos.
Biggest issue is on the passenger side, one of the rear tubes is almost crushed in half as the #6 goes over the top of the #8 pipe. Thats why in all the pics don't show the passenger side header very well. Also the rear most pipe bends backwards and makes it impossible to put the rear flange bolt in, you'd have to use a stud & nut.
That being said, one guy had it installed on a 70, and said they went on fairly well with minor massaging. They did look good (except for that one crushed pipe)
As long as you are not expecting to get coated hooker super comps for $150, i think you'll be ok for mild performance... I think they are really more for bling than performance with that crushed pipe.
Personally, i think i'd opt for the $150 flowtechs, and have them blasted and repaint with VHT silver. No crushed pipe.
As far as them fitting on a 65 with a small block? From everything i've read about headers on SBO, i would not count on it fitting at all. Only ones i've heard of fitting 64-67 SBO's are very High $$ ones.

i ordered the flowtechs just to take a small gamble since one of my exhaust manifolds has a crack anyway..i've got a map gas torch and several sizes of hammers..plus ill have all the front suspension out of the way since i'm converting to disc and replacing all bushings. might make it easier to get them in and with less paint transfer lol thanks for the replys!, i think ill just start saving here and there for a good set of kooks
My understanding (when i was thinking about re-doing my 330, before i went 455) was that a drivers side later SBO header will fit on a 64-67 with minor work- but the passenger side isn't even close.
a mixture of a drivers side SBO header and a passenger side BBO header (for early a-bodies) might work, although then that pass side would hang down way too far since the BBO heads exhaust flange is in a slightly higher position & angle)...
None of this stuff would stop someone with some fabrication skills & some patience- Just gotta know going in its gonna be a fight thats gonna need more than the usual hammer & torch.

somehow i managed to delete the wrong part number from my summit shopping cart and now i have BBO flowtech headers lol, do the sanderson shorties fit by chance? i could see shelling out $350 for headers but any more and id rather wait to do a 455 swap.
