Question Best practice for removing pipe from trumpet tip?

Hi guys,

I bought some used trumpet tips a while back, and they still have part of the exhaust pipe attached to them. IMG_0358.jpg

What is a best practice/method for removing the pipe from the trumpet tip? I'd like to do this on my own as opposed to taking it to a shop (last resort).

Thanks

Well if you use a hacksaw blade and slice the pipe inside the trumpet tip, then grab onto it and curl it towards the center it will pop right out.

After you get the pipe out you may want to take a tailpipe expander to those to get the clamp groove out so your tailpipes will go in all the way without a lot of hassle. Those muffler clamps seem awfully brutal, my '68 GTO uses flat band clamps to hold the tips, don't crunch the pipes, don't hold very well either.

Thanks for the replies.

So, the exhaust pipe is just jammed in there?

And, applying heat isn't necessary for removal?
