I'm trying to convert my AC from R12 to R134. The shop where I normally have hoses made said because of the way Olds did these they couldn't do it. I then looked online for a replacement and wasn't hard to find except the replacement hoses didn't have this canister on it like the factory plumbing. My question is what is this canister and what does it do. Is it alright to omit it with replacement hoses?
I have since found out the canister is just a muffler and not needed.
I also have a canister on my AC , on 82 delta88 . was also told its a muffler . So just delete the muffler not needed , this is nice to know .
I thought it was odd the replacement hose assemblies were missing the canister. It looked important so I didn't want to do away with it without finding out it's purpose.
