70 radiator ?

did both the manual and auto use the radiator with the cooling line hookup, but with plugs for the manual, or id they both use different ones?

Maybe I shouldn't answer because I don't know, but that never stopped me before...

What I DO know is that my '70 Chevelle SS definitely came with a 4-speed and NO transmission connections. Many people have commented on it over the years, because you almost never see a radiator without transmission fittings.

Of course, that radiator leaked like a sieve, and I took it out and forgot to bring it with me when I moved to a new house a few years ago...

my rallye 350 4 speed car has the original radiator tanks on it and it does not have the trans cooler in it.

Does your Rallye 350 have a 2, 3, or 4 row radiator???

I do not know very much about Rallye 350 equipment, this is why I ask and also to give some context to this discussion.

My '70 442 has its original 4 row "CI" coded tank on the passenger side with the internal transmission cooler. I know my car is a automatic transmission equipted car and needs the cooler, but per the GM assembly manual this radiator is also listed for manual transmission equipted cars.

I don't understand this either???

The original radiator (with Harrison metal tag) in my 1970 W-30 4spd had the trans cooler and plugs.

Joe, per your statement and the GM assembly manual, it looks like Olds HD 4 row radiators used in 1970 had the internal cooler regardless of the transmission used.

mine is a 3 row. i think the only Rallye 350s with a 4 row radiator were the ones with 3.91 and lower gears.
