'70 Driver Side Outside Mirror

Hello,
Does anyone know if the drivers side remote mirror are the same for a '69 and '70 442. I beleive the cables are different (style and length) wondering if the bases and size of the mirrors are the same.
Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about sport mirrors the answer is no. The 1970 Sport mirrors are a one year only design on the mirror pod and so is the 69.

For manual mirrors (chrome), the Parts manual shows Group 10.185 having the same part number for 68-70 outside left manual mirrors. I can't find a reference for a remote (Nelmor style) mirror in 69 or 70. I suspect the bases will be the same though as they fit the same basic contour of the body side. I used a Fusick catalogue to compare the base gaskets of 69 and 70-72 chrome mirrors and they look identical. That's not a sure fire way to do things though.

I put the non-adjustable chrome mirrors side by side and the 68-69 are slightly narrower than 70-72. I have the two years in chrome adjustable too, but haven't taken the time to compare them yet. the 68-69 door has them mounted on a narrow ledge which limits the width of the base. The 70-72 is mounted on the flat door skin. Here's a thread showing the two non-adjustable ones side by side. John

'68 & '69 mirrors are the same and do not inter-change with '70 & '71 & '72.

Thanks again for the help on this one. One thing I did notice throughout and from the older posts about remote mirrors. It may be a guide line to identifying the two different types of mirrors. The Nelmor type has a black nylon jacket around the cable bundle and the Jervis type has a brown nylon jacket around the cable bundle. I now know, I have both in my possesion..the Nelmor is back on my car.

Looks like these two guys were fighting for the business back in 1966....a little history.
