I am missing the rod which comes thru the lower front bumper to initally "pop" the hood on my '68 Olds 442. I see the rod is available from Year One and they recommend 3 clips. For the life of me I can't figure out once I get it, how it would attach to the upper release? Does anyone know if the rods come with mounting instructions? YO couldn't answer that question. Would the Fisher Body factory service manual have a diagram of how it would attach? If so, I will get one of them also.

68 442 convertible

 

One rod hangs down from the latch (one clip) to the brace and a pivot is attached (second clip, rod to pivot) there to which the horizontal rod (third clip, rod to pivot) attaches and pop goes the hood.

 

Thank you so much!!!! Wow... maybe once I hold the rod and clips in my hands I will understand it better. Sure would be nice if someone made a youtube video of the procedure.

If your still not clear on the location of each let me know and I'll try to get some photos for you. I'm pretty sure I've got a loose core support that will be easy to access the hood release parts. John
