I am 17 and I recently bought a 1964 Super eighty eight as my first car and a tune up project. the a/c doesnt work and none of the vaccume lines are hooked up. if anyone has the schematics of the vaccume lines it would help me out alot. thank you

 

You really need the 1964 Olds Service Manual if you're gonna work on this beast yourself. It's a 5-volume set that covers about anything you could ever want to repair on them. I think the 1964 is available on CD-ROM but I keep hearing scan quality is not good on a lot of these. You can find hard copies on ebay or thru old car literature dealers, but watch the price. I would personally not pay more than $75 for the 5-volume set, and you can sometimes find them way cheaper than that, even if you have to get them one at a time.

If the AC vacuum lines are original, and there but just not connected, they're color-coded to make assembly easier.

If they don't have color stripes, sounds like someone started replacing them and never finished. That will call for some ingenuity on your part, as well as flexibility reaching up behind the dash to the AC control head. I've found it's about as easy to remove it as to try to put the hose on the right nipple with it in the dash. I can about promise the flex duct to the outlets is gonna fall apart on you too when you remove it for access.

Keep an eye on your PM's and I'll try to guide you thru this. I'm a dinosaur without a scanner so that makes it harder.

Is your Super a hardtop or sedan?

iv been looking for a manual with no luck. i have a friend who is a machanic and is helping me. all the vacuum hoses are gone, we had to pull the motor out. they were not original anyways. im gunna try to rehose it instead of taking the AC out

The 1964 manual is a four volume set. There are two complete sets on ebay right now, plus a bunch of the individual volumes for sale. There are also people selling CDs with bootleg scans of the original manuals. Buy these at your own risk, as there's no guarantee of quality.

Welcome! It is great to see youth with an interest in 60's era Oldsmobiles, can tell you that!

 

Keep plugging along as I gave my son one of several '63 Olds' that I had and were far from being road worthy and he's gettin' "r" done. It's a challenge I know as you've got to learn our old technology. Oh by the way he's in his late Twenties so you've got more catching up to do.

Olds Club of Wisconsin has been around forever and is active. Bound to be a member close by you somewhere.

 

LOTS of small towns in Wisconsin Tim; which one?? (I have friends I visit in Strum and Osseo Wisconsin...even over in Eleva -- up North and West of Eau Claire....) NEAT to see you working on a '64!! as others have said; look up the local Wis. Chapter...BOUND to have other Olds Fans somewhere near ya!
