1973 Nova 4 door Sedan

Trying to help a friend sell his fathers Nova and have no idea on the collectibility or value of these cars. It's a 1973 with a numbers matching 307 and AC. Pretty much a low option Nova. Original dog dish caps. Light green with white top. Solid body with miminal or no rust. Not sure on the mileage but believed to be on the low side. Any idea of value and desirability? Any interest on the board? Thanks.

The Old Cars Price Guide says $1500 to $3000 depending on condition, assuming that it runs and drives but is not in showroom condition.

The '73 Nova came in 2-door hatchback, 2-door coupe, and 4-door sedan versions. The 4-doors are always less desirable than the 2-doors.

Up to (- 72) are hot. I had 4 of these and loved them. 73's and up are a different animal. Not the same car. Collectors just are not in the mood for these yet. Good luck

Plus it has a 307, not a desirable engine either.

X2 on the good luck!

About Zero and Zero, as the others have more diplomatically stated.

Best bet for one of these is to keep it and use it as a daily driver.

Even racers don't want 'em to hack up, because the 2-door bodies are stiffer than the 4-doors.

Thinking about trying to pick it up for under 1K...if it runs/drives with low miles and relatively rust-free, I would think it would be worth that. Might be ideal for someone that wants a classic car but can't afford the mainstream classics that everybody is clamoring for ... but then again, might be a tough sell as suggested. I appreciate the input. Thanks.

I'd buy one for my kid (about to be 16), but he won't be seen in "those old cars."

Perfect for a kid, though.

I agree. While it won't set anyone's heart a-flutter, it's not worth zero. Assuming it runs and drives, forget about the collector-car aspect of it. To someone somewhere, it's at least basic transportation.

It would be nice to see a photo or two of this thing.

Pics aren't the greatest but all I have for now. I'll probably be going to see the car in person this weekend and will get others. From these pics, looks to be a clean, mostly original old Nova. Car was driven by an old man back and forth to work 5 miles a day for many years...always in NC. The white top is a painted top. Car has been repainted once in original color. That's about the extent of my knowledge at this time but I still think the car has some character and could be made into a nice little cruiser in the right hands. Definitely not a highly desirable piece but still a classic. Love the Big Bumper cars!

73 Nova was still a newer car when I was in high school. I believe that the EPA required that 90% of all 4 door Nova's be green. Those pictures look like they were taken in 1977. I would drive it for a work beater if it had air.

It's worth about $1k. It really has no value except to someone who has to have one,
