Well, after 72 hours straight at work, with little to do + money in paypal = looks like next week will be Christmas!

Ive ordered my CTS-V pan (baffle, gasket, dip stick, etc), oil filter, spark plugs, seatbelts, Energy Suspension Motor Mounts, and some dynamat extreme.

One word of advice with this pan,

Make sure it's not hanging too much lower then your K-member.
A member on Nastyz28 just went over a street that was being repaved and
his CTS-V pan hung 1.5" lower and caught a manhole cover that was sticking
up and destroyed his engine.

Yeah I saw that too. Im not real worried about it, especially since all of the streets here in town are now all concrete.

Im hoping to set the engine/trans in the car this week, I need the floor space in the garage!

Swap the frames out today, took about 30 minutes (real easy with a lift). The car had new bushings under it already so just reused those. Going to paint the floors with por-15 tomorrow while its still nice. The front clip is not painted yet...maybe by Dec??? LOL. Hopefully I can get the motor dropped in before he gets that done...

I didnt get much done today (feeling lazy). I did get my motor on the engine stand and painted. I also got the motor mounts sitting on it. Need to get some bolts. CTS-V oil pan showed up today, waiting on the gasket... I started to take the heads off the Vette block, but that sounded like too much work so I stopped.

Havent done much to the car the last month, but got the CTS-V pan installed.

My buddy works for GM in the van assembly division and sent me this pic today and asked if I see 1 I would like to have; he'd try to sneak it out in his lunchbox.

I ordered the American Autowire Highway 22 wiring kit yesterday. I also ordered the rest of the dynamat to finish all of the interior.

I have a mechanic friend coming over to the house to do the corvette head and cam swap on my motor between christmas and new years when he shuts his shop down for a week and a half.

I put one in my 1978 Z28 I put an LS1 in as well and I was EXTREMELY happy with it.
I also ordered the Casper Weatherpack connector kit to use with it.
They are local to me so I just go pick up stuff from them.

I'm strongly considering putting another Highway 22 kit in my Olds as well with the 2nd LS swap.
Since you're doing it before me I want to see where you mount your fuse block.

I got the American Autowire kit in the other day. Looks pretty simple! Im thinking about welding the hole up on the firewall where the harness came through before and mounting it there.


I got my 96 Roadmaster tank, fill tube, and straps yeasterday. Now waiting on the racetronix fuel pump to come in.

Also waiting on the lokar ls1 throttle cable and bracket, Z06 injectors, vette fuel filter, and head bolts to come in.


I got most of the Dynamat Extreme covering the floors, doors, dash area, and roof. Also got all the weatherstrip (Metro 10pc kit) and a GM 5 3/16" power steering pump pulley (PN 10166335) so I can start on that.


Talked with the body man and he thinks he might have most of my stuff (steering column, core support, hood hinges, etc) finished this weekend...I also gave him my vette intake to paint the same color as the car, since the block and heads are aluminum colored.

Glad to see you got the tank with the sender, external harness, etc. That's going to make things easier.
BTW, I keep seeing Olds pars for sale on craigslist from someone in your area. Is that your spare parts?

I drove to Ferguson last night at 7pm and had to remove the tank myself from the car. Only took 30 minutes! But I forgot the filler so I had to talk him into shipping it to me.

Yep, thats me. Trying to clean out the garage and finance this build. I keep selling other small items and none of the big stuff I need to make any room.

Got some more goodies in the mail today. Have to take the heads off the Vette motor this weekend so the machine shop can have them planed and new valves put in in the next 2 weeks. Then hopefully get the motor put together.

Thanks. Havent got much done. Since its been very nice the last couple days, Ive been cleaning out my shop and going through all my extra parts.

I did get the motor set about where it needs to be and I got most of the dynamat installed. I also got my new fuel pump in the tank. I have to go pick up my heads sometime this week (1 new valve and exhaust port redone) and then those can be installed. Waiting on several more parts orders to be delivered also.

I painted my 69 medium gulf blue metallic in 2001. Originally grren with gold hood stripes.
I never put stripes back on it. Thought about black or silver.
3.5 inch tall H/O scoop now.

Good ungrade on the color, IMHO. The guy doing the paint has a 56 Chevy truck he is painting a pearl white, so thats the paint for the strips Im going to use.

Im wanting to put a 70 oai hood on eventually, but I need to spend money elsewhere first.

I got the 1/4" steel motor mount spacers done yesterady. So now I can drill the holes for the new location of the bolts. I also got the dynamat finished and the jute backing done on the firewall.

alarm system some idiot installed years ago. I hate trying to fix rats nests. Dash
removal is a real MF'r though with some of the bolt locations.....

Its actually a 4 car garage...but I can usually only fit 2 cars in it at a time. The wife doesnt like it too much (especially when its raining/snowing).

Got my new repop 69 442 new bumper in this afternoon. Appears to be very good quality. Straight, decent chrome. Going to try and put it on the car tomorrow to see how it fits.

The bumper fits very nice. I have a set of rechromed taillight bezels on order along with new rubber fillers, then I can get it mounted permenately.

Since it was so nice today, I got the dash and interior parts dyed. I got the hole cut for the rear defogger switch and the dash put back together. I set it back in the car so it would get tore up in the basement. Also got the door weatherstrip put on the other day and the tilt column installed.

Okay, I have a question for you.

How did you "dye" the dash pad ??
Did you use SEM Landau black spray paint, or did you have it done by a company somewhere some other way ??
I'm curious because I've been pondering switching to an all black interior myself.

Also, what weather strip manufacturer did you end up going with??
Metro or Soff seal or another ??

I got the black dye spray from the parts place. Went on real easy! Since I painted everything I wasnt too concerned if it didnt have the right shine or color. I think it looks good, beats the faded black look. The kick panels turned out the same way. I guess only time will tell how it holds up.

I ordered the weatherstrip from adealsap off ebay. Complete 10 pc set of Metro for $124 shipped. The door strip went on real easy. Seems like pretty decent quality. Havent put anything else on though.

Got the 243 heads bolted on last night. Was going to swap the Vette cam in also, but it was junk from the bent pushrod.

Did the flat cam cause the bent pushrod, or, the other way around?

Pretty sure it was caused by all the water that was sucked up through the cold air intake he had put on, LOL.

Here is a link to pics of the heads and pistons when I tore into the motor. Luckily the heads only needed minor work to be usable.

Stock pushrods are the fuse of these motors. I've seen them bend 1/2 of them in a motor from over reving and all is well after they are replaced.

Got the motor and trans sitting in the car now, finally! Now I can get the front clip installed and the car taken down to my buddy to install the gas tank and run all the fuel lines.

Ewww.....looks familiar!!!
You might beat me at the rate I'm going waiting for winter to end. You must be using the CTS-V pan. I couldn't get the engine tilter to clear the firewall with the F-body pan. I had to make my own engine lift plate in my welding class.

What fuel tank are you going with ??
I can tell you right now the B-body fuel tank is a royal MF'r because of making custom tank straps.
Without a lift, I wouldn't advise doing it because it really aggravated the sh** out of me.
