Vortech 5300 ls swap in a 65 cutlass

Has anyone put the votech 5300 ls 5.3 in a 65 cutlass. Due to the engine being out of a truck (05 Z71) the intake is taller. My mesurements make it apear very close. Does anyone kow for sure?

Thanks Gary

Hey Gary, welcome to the site. Check out the non Oldsmobile powered section. There have been quite a few LS swaps and a wealth of info there.

When I put a 5.3 in my 72, I swapped out the intake for an LS1 because it looked close. Check over at LS1tech conversion forum for your car. Pretty sure someone's done a 65.

Just for reference, i have a vortec 5700 in my `65 now with a single plane high-rise intake and it fits under the hood with a drop base aircleaner.

Well yes and no,i miss the torgue at low rpm,but the chebby makes it out with more revs,10:1 comp and a hyd.roller with 500/510 LIFT .225/231 DURATION @.050" 110º LOBE SEP.

Im still working on a plan to rebuilt the 455 though
