LSx into a '64 B-body?

Comtemplating buying a '64 Jetstar I, supposedly solid body and complete, 394 that hasn't run in at least 23 years and a bad Slim-Jim. I have seen several threads involving LSx engines and '64 A-body cars, as well as the occasional B-body inquiry. I am aware of the motor mount and a crossmember (?) issue but haven't seen the solutions to those (have searched) as well as driveshaft length. Are there other issues specific to the B-body that would arise in this swap, such as rearend ratio and durability? I had a '64 Dynamic 88 4-door a while back but didn't get into it much...

Ok, guess I need to be more specific here...

Which engine: 5.3, 6.0, 6.2? Definitely staying with FI.

Which transmission: 4L80 or 6L90?

Disc brakes are a given...

Rear end ratio?

Since that motor and trans setup is in everything from 'vettes to 'burbans, I wouldn't worry much about the rear ratio - high 2's to high 3's will be fine with overdrive.

I would imagine that the driveshaft will have to be custom made

So the stock ratio should be fine...figured on custom-length driveshaft...

Ideas on engine & transmission mounting?

Just emailed them to confirm application, they said "not that we know of." What is different frame-wise between '64 Olds and '64 Chevy?

Never mind...looks like I will have to have some kind of custom cradle...anyone have a pic of an empty '64 full-size engine bay?

Just get a junk block for mockup and make mounts.

I still have a 71 Cutlass wagon a few miles away. Motor is out ready for an LS1 if thats the direction you want to go

Sorry, I'm not on this forum that much anymore.

I highly suggest you go to http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/
Start asking around there, you'll find far more knowledgable people with swap info.

I would add the trans on the back and fab it all at the same time. There are many ways to skin that cat! Good luck and keep us posted!
