66 vista update

I don't see much discussion about engine updates here, but I'm thinking doing a LS swap. Has anyone done this? I've done many engine swaps, but wondering about the trans clearance. A 4l80 should be no problem, wondering if 6l80 will fit.

Won't be much info on CO but a few have done it, not cheap or super simple. Boost is the great equalizer, the stock 6L/6L80E in the 3/4 ton work truck is beyond useless below 3500 rpm. Not great for a heavy wagon. For EFI, I suggest an entirely new and separate wiring harness. The later 4L80E needs the floor clearanced for the center cooling lines, mine needed pretty good dents. Guys in G bodies have ran the 6L80E with minimal floor work.

Ls/ 4l80 swap

Thanks for trans info. I've done several ls swaps, last was a 51 caddy with truck 6.0 and 6l80. Gen 2 Camaro front stub. That was pretty tight, but worked great. I think the 4l80 is same size as th400. Pretty big unit. 700r4 is slightly slimmer, I'll have to jog my memory and do some research.

Oh, by the way I have done swaps using both stock harness and after market. Just takes a little more time.

I tied a Holley Terminator harness into the 50+ year old harness, a fire happened. Doing multiple swaps should make it easy.
