327???

There's some more stuff on that car worth pulling if not beat up. Wheel opening mouldings, that bumper/valance panel, stuff like that. Impala guys always want that stuff.
And a running or rebuildable 327 is ALWAYS a good find. 283/327 are good engines and not as bellybutton as the ubiquitous "350 crate motor 4-bolt main!"

'66 chevy's had quite a few 327's available;
250 hp - 2bbl 9 to 1 compression
275 hp - rochester 4gc 4bbl, same compression
300 hp - Q-jet, bigger cam + valves, 10 to 1
325 hp - Q-jet, even bigger cam, 11 to 1 'fuelly heads'
350 hp - Holley carb, hi-rise intake, 11 to 1, 'fuelly heads' [? available in the big cars, nova chevelle and corvette for sure!]
only the corvette had more 327's - fuel injection in 2 hp ratings
Was 18 + working at a Chevy dealer - used to drive the sales manager nuts about the combo's available!

There is a casting number on the rear of the block where the bellhousing mates up. It will be a 7 digit number I think. You can reference them on certain websites that list casting numbers. If you get a chance Pull the valve covers and get the casting numbers of the heads... This will be a 6 digit number cast near the base of the valve springs. Make sure you might have something cool there.

Small block Chev. with post-'73 aftermarket intake, aftermarket Edelbrock carb, and HEI.
For information about the original build of the block, look on the block head gasket surface, just forward of the right-hand head (it sticks out about ½" like a shelf). There will be a number and three letters. The letters can be looked up on line to find out the original year and model.
I doubt anyone else will be able to tell you more (but I'd like to hear it if they could).

Seriously though pretty much every sbc from 262-400 cid 1955-87 looks EXACTLY the same externally. The casting numbers behind the distributor will tell you what it is. The code Eric mentioned is more specific and will tell you the year, displacement, model, and transmission it was paired to in the factory. It is a little protruding part of the deck of the block right in front of the passenger side head. Its usually painted over so wipe it off with carb cleaner if it is.
