I see your digging right in there. I had a 92, it was a great car, traded it for my son. The problem was that my wife, who supposedly could not get pregnant, defied all laws of nature did. So since it was not very practical for a growing family... gone.

 

I had a 94 that I put 159,000 miles on. It still ran great and used no oil. They are fun cars.

 

Funny as far as son's go, this car was my sons car, he's got the 14' Camaro now.

 

This ones got 108K miles, not well taken care of miles. Has a Camaro LT1 block in it. I've got my work cut out for me. I should be putting what energy I have into the Olds but the corvette will be driven more.

 

92 Gm brought the LT1 back and installed them in Vettes. Are you sure it's not the original engine?

 

I checked the code on the block and it's from a 94' Camaro. Got a 2 bolt main also. This is why I guess I'm going through it as deep as I am. Might get a crate motor or reman LT1 or just build this one. 383 would be the way to go. When I bring the block to get machined, If I go that route, need to bring my Olds heads also to get new guides installed. Parts are so cheap for these motors for the most part. I'm hoping to get both going by next year, the 442 has been sitting since September 2012.

 

You have an opportunity to build a nice ride out of the Vette.


On a separate question, what traction bars are under your Olds?

I had swapped rear ends with my old blue car and now that I sold it I had to swap rear ends back. Got to get one of those "posi" units for my "O" type rear.
3.08 just isn't going to cut it.

Yes I hope the corvette comes out nice. There is way too many wires to deal with.

 

Put and olds engine in it I bet with that drive train you could make a nice car

 

I've seen that style used, but back in the day we used the ol ladder bars.
