I’m restoring currently a 1973 Olds Omega with a Pontiac ohc6 sprint swap

Actually he has the Sniper, which hopefully is working well.

So the Omega was in the barn for over a year now - jumped in and the Sniper fired the Pontiac ohc6 on the 2nd turn.

final touches are done in the engine compartment 😍🤩

I agree that the “Sprint” was a GMC designation for the vehicle, but these engines were nicknamed Sprint, much like Iron Duke, Rat, Elephant and so forth. I had a friend in the military who daily rocked a ‘68 Firebird with a OHC 6 with a manual 4 speed (and a hood tach). It also had a factory Quadrajet until he foolishly swapped in a first gen Holley Pro-jection. It also had factory dual piston disk brakes which failed in traffic leading him to smash the front clip into a dump truck. This was later replaced with fiberglass components. I recall the OHC six as a screamer. We had a great deal of fun experiences in it. He was not timid with his driving skills.

Not a nickname--an actual formal name.

The link is 6 years old. I got the same and looked at the date. I might have seen one of these way back. I definitely remember the Cabellero, it's replacement much more. My ex BIL had a 1980, I believe. Pretty sure it was a factory 350.

Actually the engine came in a few versions from 66-69 and is known as the OHC6 with the performance version as OHC6 Sprint option. The GMC Sprint was a marketing name for its version of the El Camino and never came with the Poncho 6.

Here is a good read
Pontiac's Fantastic Six
