Cowl tag decoding

Cowl tag decoding

I have as such decoded my cowl tag... but what does 5A and W-W mean ??

I know it a ´64 sports sedan from Lansing with blue interior... then I cant understand anymore..... help

your car must be upsidedown, flip it over and take another pic of the tag

WW is the Paint code. In your case it's Midnight Mist for both lower and upper body

5 refers to option code column 5. I believe that is tinted front windshield

Great... regarding "5" I did read something about a tinted windshield somewhere, but didnt think I got it right.

Interesting. I have never seen "5A" code describe a tinted windshield though I have seen "W" in position 1 describe tinted windshield plenty of times. I also don't have a code "A" for position 5 for any division.

Can you remember where you might have seen that? I would love to add that code description if it is a valid one.

I also noted that for your tag the GM division number and model code are seen as "3839" as opposed to "33839." I will have to fix that one.

Chris, the 5A is 'column' 5 or 'accessory group' 5. A is the code for the windshield. In 64 I'm not sure if that was just the front windscreen or entire glass package.
