Got this in partial trade Not sure if I want to rip the 455/400 out for my 70' Olds cutlass or not she runs so nice. Was an Older gentleman's car. Came with Broadcast sheet and all documentation since new.

And another boat captain is born. Looks like a solid car, tough choice on what to do.

It would be a shame to remove the engine and essentially ruin the car, but these are not that collectible to begin with. It IS a 2-door hardtop, which is probably the most desirable body style. But it definitely needs work, and any money and effort invested would be a labor of love as you wouldn't get any of it back when/if you sell the car.

But I think the gods of car collecting would not disapprove of your removing the engine from this and putting it into your Cutlass. Not every car on the planet can be saved. If you do part it out, you should note what other parts are good and perhaps offer them up in the "parts for sale" section as there people who have these cars and could make use of the parts.

I've never seen good pics of a '72 98 its amazing all the little differences between my Delta 88 and the 98. Looks to be the same color ours was stock.

very nice looking car but do what you must. the Cutless is a nice looking car and i suppose is more desirable.

Remember, that '72 455 is a low compression motor, so you may do just as well or better to sell that car as it is to someone who likes those models and use that money to buy a 455 core and parts to do a performance rebuild.
The stock '72 455 will be a peppy motor in the Cutlass, but it won't be a super fast motor without a rebuild anyway, so you're going to rebuild it into something else sooner or later.

The 350 in the 70' is shot and is a smoking beast that needs complete rebuild. The 455 has 35k and some change on it that is documented that runs so smooth. It was one of a pair of "His and hers" His ( White one ) was driven daily hers ( One pictured ) not so much. She passed away in 95 and the car sat till I got it in 2013.
