76 Regency Power Antenna

Pulled the antenna out today, motor works fine. The nylon drive cable for the mast is broken.
Could not figure out how to get the case open to expose the reel that the cable is spooled on.
Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these? If so how?
Any idea where I might source a complete replacement? Have done a search, but come up empty.
If you would know the part number that might aid my search. My model has the two position mast for local/distance control.
All help and advice greatly appreciated.

Try the Oldsmobile page on https://www.vintagepartsource.com , one of the suppliers listed might have parts for the antenna.

Thanks Vintage.
Doesn't appear to be anyone with an antenna for sale.
But that is a great listing of suppliers, will probably come in handy one of these days.

Glad to help. I remember riding in a brand new Regency one night while in high school. Silver with dark blue vinyl roof and dark blue velour interior. 4 dr hdtp. I'm in my early 60s and of the hundreds of cars I've rode in. That Olds was one of two I recall vividly. Smooth quiet and torquey. The other was a 58 eldorado brougham still riding on air. By the way, the kid's dad bought a pair of 98's. His and hers.

I grew up in 98 Regencys. My Dad worked for GM at Central Foundry, and in the 60s he was the foundry's contact man for Oldsmobile.
He would buy the program cars that were given to high brass at Olds. Bought a new one every couple of years and could sell them
for what he had paid for them. What a great gig. I went to work for the foundry in 1972 and bought a brand new 72 Cutlass convertible,
I was young and stupid and after I had wrecked it for the third time I started buying his 98s when he was done with them. Probably saved my life.
I had a 73 2dr Regency, A 76 4dr. that was an identical twin to the one I just purchased and a 79 4dr.
Loved them all.

Haven't sent it in yet, too many other things to do first.
I just leave it up for now, radio still works fine.
Gonna end up having some downtime when the fender extensions get here, will probably pull it and send it out then.

Hi, curious how it's going with your 98. What fillers are you using on the rear? I believe I saw your car on eBay a while back, right?

Car is running great, looking forward to a new season of car shows.
The rear quarter extensions have been replaced with fiberglass pieces. They need some tweaking and then painted.
That was not my car on Ebay, I have seen a few that look just like it out there, but not mine.

Good to hear. Let us know how the fillers come out.
