Lowering the '64 98

Has anyone lowered their 98? I'm doing the shocks anyway, so I'm thinking of cutting a coil out to drop it down some. I know getting new springs is the right way to do it, but for now I'm on a budget and I'm good with the ride quality change.

The last coil or so on the ends of these springs is smaller than the rest of the coils .
So you can't cut these springs to shorten them .
The only way to lower it , would be with custom made springs .

Airbags are probably your best option. A set for a similar year Cadillac should work.

If you go ahead and cut your springs with new shocks that are correct for the car you might find they'll bottom out and break the ends of the shock mounts.
