Lowered, bagged, dropped, lay it on the ground!

Hello everyone!
I'm a new here, and just recently bought a 1969 Ninety Eight 2 Door Hardtop with a 455! This thing is awesome but needs a lot of work. So first question is bagging it. I have searched everywhere and don't see any aftermarket parts anywhere... So do any other models have interchangeable parts? Cutlass, Cadillac, Buicks, Monte Carlos? I see tubular control arms for them all day but nothing for ours. So I am hoping that other "C" body GM's like 59-66 Eldorado or De Ville control arms would fit? If any one can help that would be awesome!

You need a guy who's competent doing suspension mods and can adapt and fabricate to pull this off. You're right, you won't find anything on the shelf because late-60s big Olds are not on the mainstream (meaning Chevy and A-body) radar.

Your car is a GM C-body, so look for a kit for late-60s Cadillac if such exists. That will be the closest thing you'll find.

But a competent kustom shop should be able to steer you in the right direction. I mean, people bag everything now.

Right. You're not going to find a kit for that. But universal stuff from RideTec can be made to work with the right skillset.

Welcome to the site. Got nothing for you as I have never bagged anything. Hopefully others can point you in the right direction.

RideTec is probably the most expensive way to go. there are other solutions.

Not sure how mechanically inclined are you, but this is one way to go:

Brackets Brackets on Ebay
You can measure and cut the brackets to size, the best way is to weld the flat part to the cylinder after you get the ride height that's desired. You will need 2 sets, for front and back.
For car that heavy I would go with slam specialties bags SS-7 for the front and SS-6 for the rear.
Dual Viar444C or 480 compressors and at least a 7g tank or 2 3g, or 2 5g tanks. 1/2 line for the bags 1/8 for the gauges.
All can be bought for less than $1k. Stay away from ebay complete kits. Installing is not that hard and wiring is fairly simple.
I can post the diagram and give you more instructions if you decide to go this route.

or you can contact http://www.bcfab.com.They have kits for 60's cadillacs and they can point you in the right direction.

You will need a better alternator. I use 105A CS with 2 compressors and 1000w amp, i have no issues.
I installed everything in my 67 impala by myself, it wasn't that hard.

Curious...

I've never heard the term used in relation to vehicles: "bagging it." Can someone enlighten me?

Air bagged suspension components. Control switch inside the car takes you from street ride to this:

It's an awesome system I can't afford right now.

Air bags will improve the ride, it will be much better than stock especially on a big heavy car.

Not super-slammed, but got full bump-stop to bump-stop travel, with original steering geometry. Still not on the road, but never mind...

Facebook Post

Its got 6" slamspecialties non-ballooning bags up front, 7" at the rear. Custom mounts to replace the coil springs, but uses original control arms, and relocated front shocks. Ideally I would have the 7" bags up front, and might yet, but will have to clearance the spring pockets to make that work as their is no space for a 7" bag up front. Havent driven it on the road yet, so depends on how bad the ride is with the 455 up front as to whether I swap out the bags.

I have the SS-6 (slam specialties non ballooning) all around on my 67 Impala. It rides just fine, but I only have 327. I tried SS-7 and they rubbed pretty much everywhere. SS-6 were bolt in, no cutting whatsoever. I still haven't installed front shocks, it rides just fine without them, but my car only has a 327 under the hood.

I have to have shocks, legal requirement over here otherwise it won't pass its safety test... The 7" are fine on the rear, plenty of space, I'm just concerned about having the fronts at a lot higher pressure than the rears and how that will affect handling (not that these land yachts handle well in the first place

It's fine, I run my impala at almost double the pressure in the front, the car is much heavier in the front so it requires more pressure. Once you get it on the road you will see where the car is most comfortable. Both bags are rated the same, the main difference is with SS7 the car will lock up higher. That's about it, you will still run about the same pressure with either one, maybe 10 psi difference.

Nothing of the bags i'm afraid, and they have been pulled out at the moment whilst I weld up all the bodywork. This is the trunk install, will get pulled apart and fully polished before its finished.
