Where is the "COLD" engine lamp wire at the engine?

Hi there,

I have checked out my manual but I cannot find the answer there.

I have a 1959 Olds 98 and since the car was returned from the painters the "COLD" engine lamp has not worked. Would someone mind pointing me in the right direction as to where the wire connects to the engine block?

Thank you.
J.

On a '57 371 the temp switch is at the rear of the left cylinder head. Should have two wires on it, one for cold and one for hot...could be a defective switch.

Its a pink and green wire in a white plastic clip. It sits on the passenger side of the thermostat housing in the intake manifold. It pushes on from the top ( rather than slides in from the side)

Thanks, got that one when I could not find it at the rear. The little pins are pretty grubby I'll give them a clean and check the bulb, hope its that easy to fix.

It could be that it is not cool enough outside or on 1st start to activate the cold light.

Good info thanks. It is winter here so should be cold enough, however
"on 1st start to activate the cold light" interests me, what do you mean by that and I will check that out.
Thanks again.

The cold light operates in a certain temp range. I have found when it is very warm outside the cold light will not come on. And that is usually the 1st start in the AM when it is coolest. By later in the day the engine is still warm or the temp outside has risen enough so as the cold light does not come on.

Done job. Pulled the wires off must have been gunk in there. All good now thanks all.
