Rear doors won’t unlock, need help

I am starting a 65 98 project with my boy and the rear doors are locked. They will not unlock like the front doors, the plungers seem to be “sucked” down. Are these things controlled by an electric motor or could it be a vacuum that’s holding the lock down? I would like to avoid trying to pull the doors apart while they are stuck closed, while the car isn’t in great shape I don’t want to risk damaging the original interior trying to get to the door lock from the inside. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The **** will manually override any power lock mechanism. Keep pulling. I've had cases where the lock mechanism was very stiff because the grease had dried.

Thanks for the reply Joe,
how hard is to hard to pull on the manual ****? I broke the top off one, ended up unscrewing the plastic pull ****, attached some vise grips to the threaded metal pull arm, used a pivot and pulled the lock mechanism arm up quite a bit. However it never “clicked” or tripped the lock mechanism. Any way to lube from the outside?
