Pictures of My 72 olds 98

!st and foremost my name is mike and im from toledo ohio. i recently bought this car. I didnt really pay much for it at all. But i was shocked at how it started right up after putting in a battery and a few pumps of the gas after it has been grounded for a yr.

Since i got it i have been working on the the motor and suspension. I have replaced shocks, wires, plugs, mufflers, ajusted timing. so far so good!!

the leather interior needs to be restored as far as the front seats but the rear seats looks as if no one has sat back there.

Welcome to CO

Hi Mike,

Those old 98's are great cruising cars. Easy on long trips. You gonna fix up the body as well?

I'm not surprised to hear this. My experience with these engines is that they just want to run. My '67 Delta 88 came with the choke mechanism missing completely, and yet the car would still start up from cold with a pump of the gas pedal. It would idle at low speed, but it started and ran fine once warmed up. You can't keep these cars down!

Thanks for the photos. It's good that you're preventing this car from ending up crushed.

I love it...especially that it's a coupe! I love that the rear windows open on the '71 - '74 coupes...that's one thing I wish they had kept through '76. Expect lots of pleasant experiences with this car. Like stated above, these cars love to run and are a dream on long trips. I have 2 '76 Regency Coupes and LOVE them. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

What a good-looking car sans vinyl top. It has such a nice stance as it is.

I'm not sure if I want to know the answer to this, but what the heck is a power hole?

SWEET RIDE Dude!! WELCOME ABOARD!! Yeah, LOVE that CLEAN & PURE look of the Hardtop without the "ever-present" Vinyl Top of that era! NEAT! Do what you like; it's your car now but I'd forgo the "Power Hole" sun/moonroof addition -- it'll just detract too much from that NEAT "Naked" HardTop! a GOOD FIND though man and best of luck with it! I like the "Pearl White" Paint color idea!! Keep us posted!

I called & talked to the owner a few days ago & he sent me some more pictures of the car. He says it is clean & very rust free, & I'm not criticizing or saying he's lying, but in the pictures, I can clearly see the front vertical seam on the passenger door is rusted out & there is rust under the trim on the drivers side quarter. Also one of the fender skirts has rust holes in it. From what I see in the pictures I would have to assume there is rust, maybe serious rust lurking elsewhere. It looks like someone has sanded? & spray bombed?? this area. You can kind of see it in the pictures, it looks discolored.
He gave me a nice price & I almost bit, as I will own a 98 coupe some time, but I don't believe it is as clean as I would like it to be. Still would be a fun car though!

Wow, "Caveat Emptor" for sure then huh? Were the pictures he sent you at least better than the blurry and "in a snowstorm" ones he posted on here ?! IF he gave you a good price, MIGHT be worth checking out in person first or maybe someone near him could give you the REAL scoop on it! It WOULD make a neat 98 Coupe! Good Luck and keep us posted.

I'm not saying it's total junk or anything since I have not seen it in person, I'm just saying in the pictures, it doesn't look as nice as I hoped it would. I can forward the pictures he sent to anyone interested, I'll just need your email address. It looks savable, the price was reasonable, & it could be an awesome car.
