That is a beautiful car. My dad owned an '80 88 and an '82 98. I wish I had those cars today. I remember, I would not wait to get rid of them from the yard when I was 16 or 17.

Nice-looking car. Does it have a V-8? 1983 was the second-last year that you could get a 98 with a V-8 engine, which would have made it a true "98" (90-series Olds with an 8-cylinder engine). The base engine in the 98 in 1983 was a 252 cubic-inch V-6 with a 307 V-8 and a 350 diesel V-8 as options.

The statistics I've seen show that 96% of all 1983 98's came with this engine. The other 4% were diesels. The number of V-6's sold was too small to measure.

Welcome to the forums and nice 98! I've wondered how spinners with knock-offs might look on a 98. I like it!

Thumbs up

NICE looking 98 COUPE there! CONGRATS! (just fyi; I THINK That looks to be a 1980 Ninety-Eight Grille in that though...someone may have replaced it... Grilles, Hood Ornaments, Front Side Marker Lights and other minor differences are the only way to tell the difference in some of these years between 1980, 81, and 82-84....) I think I like the look of your grille better really?! Again, ENJOY it and CONGRATS! Those Coupes are RARE; esp. in nice shape! GOOD FIND!

Oh yeah!! What a nice car! I've got an '83 Reg Brougham sedan myself. I'd change the wheels too, they look cool but I hear ya.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm actually the current owner of that exact car.

I can also confirm that changing one of those was rather difficult on the side of the highway!

Nice Car! Always neat to find some history on your 'new' car when you buy it! I'm pretty much a newbie here, but there are tons of really knowledgeable folks who are ready to help if you need anything!
