1977 442

Were there any options other than a 403 c.i. for the 442 in 1977? I have seen 3 442 cars advertised with 350`s and didnt think they were actually 442`s

The 442 could have a 260 with manual trans, a 350 or the scarce 403 both auto trans only.

As had been the case since the 1972 model year, in 1977 the 442 package was an "appearance and handling" package only. You got the suspension and the 442 graphics. It could be ordered with any available engine in the Cutlass line. Per the dealer brochure, the "spunky 231 V6" was the base engine. The powerhouse 260 was an "upgrade".

Note that 1977 was the year that Oldsmobile forgot their history, as the brochure famously says that 1965 was the first year for the 442:
