New to site 1970 Cutlass Convertible
Greetings!!
I am retiring and selling my old 1980 Cutlass (with a SBC, yah, I know BOOO HISS get over it!) and getting the car I always wanted, a 1970 Convertible Cutlass with Rocket engine, white interior and viking blue!
I am taking over a project that another A body fan started. I flew out to Northern CA last weekend and inspected it and got Title and went to the CA DMV to transfer it as a NON-OP into my name. The car is going to be delivered next week! I can hardly wait to get to work on it.
Here is what he has done so far.
1. rotisserie the main body and undercoated it.
2. blasted and painted the chassis and rebuilt suspension
3. a little body work
I have nearly every part I need, so really I just need to rebuild the engine and tranny, and put an interior kit in it. OH, and PAINT. Thats important right?
Anyhow, wish me luck. I will be posting lots of questions here over the next couple years.

Welcome aboard. Looks like most of the really hard work is done.BTW don't worry about the SBC comment for your 1980. Some were produced with SBC right out of the factory.

Here she is being loaded up yesterday. She arrived around 7PM at the "ranch" in sunny and dry Socal where she wont rust before I can get around to finishing everything.
So i was wondering...
For my next steps I need to address the following.
1. Brake system
2. Engine: rebuilding the 455, using a non matched set of block, heads and intake
3. Tranny: 400? or 2004r?
4. Radiator: 3 or 4 core? original or aluminum?
Should I make individual threads about each those questions in the relevant section? Or should I make a BIG thread about my project?

Progress already! and I was not even there!
The trucker was delayed getting to my car, so in the meantime, the last owner went ahead and put OEM style center link and tie rods onto the car with the steering wheel and shaft to enable them to move the car around easier. HE painted them black for me too. Check them out! The parts are from Orielly Autoparts. I wanted to go with the MOOG ones, but they were nearly 3X the amount of the "premium" store brand. I figure that if I ever changed the steering system I would go with "upgraded" like Hochkis or tubular A arms etc etc... so these get the job done
