'62 Dynamic 88

My first classic! I have been interested in getting into the classic car game for a long time. Was looking for a four door so I can take the fam out cruising during the summer but also needed something that had good lines and a nice stance. I did not realize that what I was looking for was an Oldsmobile!

Found this car and it instantly was my favorite style. From what I have read I will really enjoy the torque of the 394 as well. It needs some TLC but runs and drives. Looking to upgrade to disc brakes and update some of the interior bits this year and get it out on the road. Has a clean running original 394 in it. I couldn't have found a better match to what I wanted. The Boyd Coddington wheels are a nice touch as well. Very happy to be a part of this community!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

I will definitely be on the look out for the other '62 owners here. I have a lot to learn and some parts to find. Headliner and dash are good but the rest needs some TLC.

Now, where to start!

A good set of radial snows and a limited slip, and you will be good for the whole year!! Welcome home.

Yes!! That is awesome. Never straight. Always sideways is how she rides! I would get more looks during the winter than in the summer.

Welcome! Good choice, but I am partial.

Believe you have to go to a 15" wheel when converting drum to disc brakes?

The more I think about it, I almost bought my first Olds as a teen. It was a late 70's boat. A buddy was going to sell it to me for $500. My mom wouldn't let me buy it though. I really wanted that car. Looks like I have finally redeemed myself!

Thanks Yaros. Don't be surprised if I chew on your ear with some questions eventually. Will take a look at your sites as well. Looks like we are midwestern neighbors.

They are 17s. Perfect size. Your before and afters are giving me the itch robski. Sweet ride!

You will find( if you "search" for it) dozens and dozens of conversations about the 60-64 dynamic 88 RE: parts, suppliers and advice. Pretty much any issue you have someone has the answer or direction to lead you. Great forum.

Been trying to hone my "Search" skills. Found some interesting threads so far. Glad to know the info is out there. Went to school with a guy from Big Lake! Nice area.

I was at first surprised by the amount of traffic on here. This is a very busy forum which is awesome.

Thanks Dave!

I am getting close to breaking ground on this. Brake lines were bone dry and just filled up the master cylinder and bled all four and took it for it's inaugural run yesterday. Front suspension is very springy and steering is very loose. Not going to be going any farther than the two block area I tested it out in for now.

I have my suspension list ready. Although, I would appreciate any suggestions for a rear shock that will work on this model.

I have no blinker switch or plastic collar but found the little metal tab and was relieved to see the blinkers are functional.

Spring is here and I am itching to take this for a cruise!

Even when all is 100% brand, spanking new, with the steering one would never, ever, call it tight.
