Ken here,new member,35 + oldsmobiles since 1975.My buddy had a 1979 Olds Cutlass Salon 2dr(ug) witha 4.3 v-8 diesel and a 5spd manual trans,now we think it could have been quite rare.Any idea where to get an actual production number of how many were ordered that way? Thanks

 

Welcome. I'm actually amazed you could even get the five speed with a diesel, given how wimpy that T50 was (it's not a T5). Of course, the 4.3 diesel V8 isn't exactly a powerhouse. I'd say it was extremely rare. Do not confuse rare with valuable, however.

i heard of a guy that had an el camino with a 4.3 and a 5spd.but never saw it so can't confirm it.about bought a 79 or 80 holiday 88 2dr with a 5.7 diesel and full gauge package with tach,had buckets and console too.
