New '68 Delmont 88 owner

Recently bought a 68 Delmont 88 convertible and am rather giddy. All original with 30K miles and the 455 Rocket. Has couple minor TLC needs, but runs and drives great. Still learning the different places to find parts but am happy I have found the place to find knowledge!

What, exactly, do you need? I have a sort of a similar car myself in a '67 Delta 88. If it's mechanical parts you need, you can pretty much get those all day long at your local auto parts store or from an online vendor like rockauto.com.

Body, trim, and interior parts, though, are another matter entirely as Nothing, with a capital N, is reproduced for the full-size cars. Anything like this would have to come from a junkyard car. If you do need parts like this, a good thing to do is post a detailed list in the "parts wanted" section as there are people on here parting cars like this from time to time.

I just bought the car 4 days ago, so I am still compiling a list of needs, but one of the items (actually two) that I am having a hard time with is both of the lens covers for the front turn signals have holes in them and would like to get them replaced before any moisture gets in to the bulb/socket. Is that a junk yard item?

Pretty much unless you run up on a new old stock set somewhere. Fusick www.fusick.com sometimes has NOS parts and the Fusick guys will rapidly become your friends.

You can often find NOS parts on ebay if you don't mind putting up with their crap. Several of us here have factory parts books and can identify the parts you're looking at to see if they are indeed correct for your car, and some of us also have the parts. Just post what you need.

In meantime, to seal out water, use some clear packing tape to cover the holes until you can get better pieces.

Welcome... I had a 68 Delmont 88 Convertible about 12 years back.
It was a beater, but I still regret selling it to this day.

Finding brake parts (the drums, or parts to convert to disks) will be your biggest challenge.
If you need body panels & trim, you are probably best to buy a whole parts car than a few peices out of wrecking yards. I've seen complete running 4 door delta's for as little as $1k with good trim on them...

Anyway. welcome aboard!

Rambow, I actually got one with on 30K on it always stored indoors and only driven in the summer. So it is in amazing condition. Some minor bumps, scrapes and what not but nothing mechanical nor body replacement needed. At least that I have found so far... My first classic car and loving it!
