My First Olds

Hey there ladies and gentlemen, I'm a newbie from the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains in CA. I recently purchased a beautiful 1947 Series 66 coupe. I've been into motorcycles and classic cars for many years, but I really have a special attraction to this Olds.

The car is in excellent shape, other than a bad rear wheel bearing that I just discovered....I may have questions regarding that to come.

Great site with great info, I'm looking forward to being part of the community!

Hello and welcome. When you sort out what's where on the site I invite you to go to the forum on different models and years and click on the vintage oldsmobile section. A couple of years ago we started a thread " 46 to 48 Oldsmobile How Many have them" and it has sort of become a 'home' for those of us owning 40s Oldsmobiles and in particular the 46-48s. There are restorers and hot rodders both, all good people. I've made several acquaintances, found parts and exchanged information on that thread. I hope you enjoy CO.

Welcome also from another Northern California Sierra mountain resident( Forest Ranch area). Good people and information are found here.

Do you show your cars? I'm just wondering if our paths have crossed at a show some time in the past... Pictures are always welcome....Lost in the fifties...Tedd

Thanks for the quick replies

I'm still kind of new to the use of forums...but I'm getting it figured out! Hey, I get it with the pics...right now I'm finishing up with replacing the rear eheel bearings and third member rebuild, the car will be off the stands and finished very soon. As soon as it's done I will post some pics.

For you other west coast types, I live just off Hwy 49 between Angles Camp and Jackson in Northern CA.

Besides my 1947 Olds, my vehicles are:

1952 Hudson Wasp (my drivable ongoing rat rod project)
1937 Chev pickup
Special constructed, custom after market "Harley" hot rod, (127 cu in, 140 hp) crazy wild motorcycle. At 62 years old I question why I still get on that thing!
2010 Chevy Tahoe Z71
2003 GMC pickup

I will head for the 46/48 page and get some pics posted soon.
Thank you everyone

I owned a model 66 for a while, kind of turned it into an unfinished street rod/hot rod piece of junk. I transplanted a 455 and a turbo 350 into it and was rewarded with a very welcome seat of the pants feeling whenever I mashed on the go pedal. So fun. Welcome to CO, and looking forward to reading more about your car.
