Exclamation Extremely rare olds cutlass supreme extreme edition

Hey, I got a EXTREMELY rare 78 olds cutlass supreme EXTREME edition. i cant find any info on it though! it has extreme badges on the doors and it has chrome all over. the front end is 100% one of a kind design. All i know about the cars past is that my Grandpa bought the car in 1978 and parked it in his garage
and in 2009 he gave it to my sister and at the time she didn't have the money to do any thing to it. I took a close look at it and the grill looked like the one off the HURST edition of 78 and the head lights off a 76 olds. Knowing that body by fisher designed the car i came to the conclusion that they made a extreme edition out of the designs off of many different of their cars. I know the car is worth allot of money because when my sister drove itshe went to get Coffey a man offered her 3000$ for it. She told the man all the problems like it needs a new tranny the engine runs horribly and it needs new floor bords, new tires, new paint, new wind shield, but he still said 3000. Any ways she dident take it and she blew a rod bearing later. now im pulling engine and redoning the interior and im getting it painted and im building the engine into a 383. So now the car is mynr and im rebuilding it. PLEASE NO NEGITIVE COMMENTSIF ANY ONE HAS ANY INFO ON THIS CAR PLEASE REPLY. NOT ONE CAR I HAVE SEEN THAT IS ANT THING LIKE IT. ---------------------------------->THE FIRST PAGE IS TWO PICS AND IF YOU LOOK ON THE LEFT IT WILL SAY OLDSEXTREME AND THAT WILL HAVE 5 PICS.<--------------------

Welcome to classicoldsmobile, and no hard feelings. Sounds like an interesting car.

Such a car as you describe was never produced by GM. If such a car does exist it is someones customization. About the only thing extreme here is your delusion about this being a rare factory car.... sorry.

Wonder if it is one of the stainless landau roof cars? But I thought those were the early 80's g bodies?

100% one of a kind and you want to put a million of a kind engine in it?

Sounds like a 1980-81 header panel - the Calais grilles with the quad headlamps. Could be a local dealer package like the "Grand Olds Gang" ones that were done in PA - stainless roof band, special badges, etc. on a normal Cutlass.

Will be interesting to see pics....

iirc, "extreme" wasn't even a popular term, let alone a popular marketing term, back in those days.

Thank you, Joe.

Yet another thread that borders on trolling (I'd rather be annoyed that this person is a troll than have to pity him for what he must otherwise be).

I still haven't been disproven on last week's thread where I called out the OP as a troll.

So, you need help posting photos?

I'm not going to call you a liar, but photos speak volumes, and well...

I have been around Oldsmobiles for many, many years, and have never heard of such a thing. I don't claim to have heard of everything ever made though.

Maybe you have the elusive Solid Main Web 403 in that bad boy.

Photos now, please. Educate us.

It looks like you have computers of this car on your computer already.... just upload them to imgur.com first and then post them here. Looks like you have a lot of "curious" people here.

^^^That will work...
Who knows, it may have been a 1 out of 5
or 10 that an oscure dealer in some town in
the USA that was an Olds dealer, had their
boys dress up.

When I was growing up, one of the dealerships
in Amarillo TX did the "Choo Choo" pickups.

Bottom line, post some pics, we would LOVE
to see this FINE automobile...Really.

You waited too long.

Quit giving him a hard time, he's not a troll. Give him a chance, he may have as others stated something a dealer promo'd as a special pkg on the showroom floor.

I hope Johnny Cash didn't build this car. Probably not since he was in the Cadillac plant.

Looks to be a regional dealer thing. The header panel looks to be from a 4 door. While rare in the actual sense that probably not many left around, does not equate to valuable. If you like the car for sentimental reasons, then go for it and enjoy. Probably not worth much restored though. Cool idea though. Wonder if anyone else has seen one?

your probably right though. its probably a regional thing. I was wrong on my post about how many where made in 78. I went to tak to my grandpa today about it and there was only 0ne-10 built in 1978 and i have it. i guess they started production around december of that year. in all of the cars that where produced he said about 300. THANK YOU IT REALLY HELPED ME

It's not a production option. It was probably a dealer installed promo. We used to install aftermarket items, vinyl roofs, chrome wheel well trim, wood interior trim, etc... and add a goofy name to Lincolns and Mercurys at our dealership.

Sooo that was in 2010 before it spun a rod bearing and would not run Everything is worth something to the right person. It will take a lot to restore. If it is value you are after put it out there and see what it will bring.........you never know when someone will come along and say I had one of those how much you want! So far as being a rare collectible car probably not.........
