Hopeful 442/Cutlass owner soon.

I've had several muscle car convertibles over the years, but sold the two I had last year (a '70 GS455 and a '70 Challenger 440-6) because they had buckets/console. Now that the kids are older, can't really squeeze all four in the backseat, so I'm looking for an A body with a bench front seat.

While there are some out there, it's interesting how most have buckets & console -- a lot more than left the factory that way. Obviously a popular conversion - but one that I don't want.

While I would love a 442 or '66/67 GTO with a bench, I may end up with the "base" version, like a Cutlass/Tempest simply because they are more often found with a bench and column automatic.

Wekcome, there are tons out there with a bench seat. Be patient. Or you can buy one with buckets and convert, very easy change.

Welcome Mr. tpetty. I agree with your comments on the bench/bucket swap. There used to be a lot of bench seat Olds.

Like what was said, its real easy to put a bench back in. Good luck in your search.

I can see it would be easy to swap a bench in if it's a manual or a column automatic - but I suppose there is a lot more cost if it's a console shift automatic.

Welcome to co. Iam an ex mopar guy would have loved that 440 + 6!
Not sure where you are located but here is a nice vert in Charlotte NC. streetside classics. They always seem to have one of these for sale. Don't like the wheels on this one but the car seems pretty nice but a little pricy for a Cutlass.

Hi Sampson, thanks for the link - but I'm limiting my search to '71 and older - for no better reason than I don't want a car younger than me! Silly, but there you go.

I'll attach a couple pics of my prior rides, none of which I own now. You can see that I favor droptops!

You've had some beautiful cars. Bench seat cars are around, but you are right that you'll have an easier time finding one if you go for the non-performance flavor. Good luck with the search.

Where are you located?
