Hi, I am a newbie to the forum.
I am a newbie to the forum but not to Oldsmobiles though. I owned a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible until it self destructed in 1984 and I now own a 1995 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. I had to drive a Chrysler Le Baron Convertible for a decade when Olds stopped making them.
I sure wish I still had my '71. She was a beauty, yellow with white interior and top. I had planned to keep her but the time was not good for repairs when she slipped into drive and took off on her own sideswiping two cars on the road and running through a neighbors garage door to hit the third car. I bet she is still on the road somewhere though.
I love my '95 Cutlass convertible too. She is white with black interior and top...the last year for an Olds Convertible and now there are no more Oldsmobiles at all. I cherish her but I am going to drive her and enjoy her...I just insist in my old cars that everything works.
BTW, when I was a young single mother I put a new air conditioner compressor in my '71 Cutlass because I could not afford to have it done...I have also fixed rust spots, sewn leather upholstery, crawled under the dash under the hood, under the car, and replaced parts from the junk yard. I had her repainted a few years ago and she is looking good for an older lady. They did not paint the plastic trim though. I just had a major leak repaired so the next project is eliminating some rust from inside the trunk and repainting that. It will go to the body shop for painting of the plastic trim. The body shop man says that has to be removed, painted and baked on.
So hello to all, I am an old lady who loves my Cutlass convertible.
Trying to have the best of both worlds in maintaining her in good condition and driving with the top down as much as possible.

You Rock Betsybugs!! Welcome to the site.
Love the story. Something you may not know? There seems to be more 70/71/72 Cutlass Supreme verts popping out of the wood work all the time nowadays. Maybe you'll be able to find an affordable one and do some fixup work on it to relive the earlier days of your 71.
You just know we'd love to see some pics of your 95 vert.
Are you going to have someone check the wiring to the trunk lock on your car? I'm betting it's likely disconnected in the trunk or that solenoid's gone bad. Easy fix either way and not hard to fix.

Thank y'all for your kind words. The repair shop tested the solinoid and said it was getting juice. I did not remember the name (solinoid) so I just said the repair shop tested it and said the trunk mechanism works. I bought the whole part that is supposed to operate the trunk (is that the solinoid?) but did not install it because I was told it was tested and works. Sounds fishy to me too but it is my regular trusted mechanic. Not that he can't be wrong.
I believe it's in this panel, but check your owners manual to confirm.
