I’m Per Ornberg from Sweden and I just found this Olds forum yesterday when searching for Olds stuff… I’m a great fan of Gm cars from the forties witch are my all-time favorites, especially Olds and Buicks. I had a 1947 Olds coupe and a 1948 Buick Sedanette that’s why... My Olds is a still going project with a brand new paint and thats the reason for missing fender extensions, door handle etc. on the pics. I look forward to learn a lot on this forum. Here’s two photos of my cars.

Beautiful cars. I see the Buick has the rather rare side mount air conditioner module. Don't see that very often! Color on the 47 looks killer.

Having served in the Corps, have to ask; what is with the USMC flag on the wall? I find that interesting/surprising.

How did the cooling module work? Never seen one before...was it a stock option or something that was an add on later?

I understand that you wonder what’s up with the flag. No I have never served in the USMC and the flag is just a cool swapmeet find I scored some years ago and now works as a nice garage wall art.

 

Ted, it was an aftermarket cooling device made by Thermadoor and other. It’s not very effective but pretty cool stuff and people asking and wondering all the time what it is. I’ve heard everything from siren, missile launcher to super subwoofer…

Novelty items are always cool (pardon the pun here) and draw attention. I found that out when I installed an NOS Y71 outside Thermometer on my car. Over the course of a day at a car show, more people were coming over to look at it than the restored 69 HO beside me.

Ornberg - really nice that you have the instructions and installation guide still. Hope you have it framed and behind glass to keep the color pristine.

I love both of your rides and that water cooler is really an added attraction to a already classy car. I often thought of adapting one for my car just for the cool factor and also to keep my wife happy during long hot road trips ......Tedd

 

Question; How do you remove the Fender Extensions in order to prime and paint underneath them? I have a 1948 Olds 4 Door.
