Torker is a single plane intake designed for higher rpm use...however, even moderate improvements to a stock 455 will justify the use of a Torker.

What have you done to your 455?

The Torker is made for a quadrajet. I would have it rebuilt, and I know the perfect guy to do it. His name is Danny Sarvis, he's in San Antonio. For what he does and how well it will run after he's done, you can't beat the price. I'll pm you his information if you're interested.

That's the problem, you haven't changed anything else with the engine. Just adding the intake manifold and rebuilding the carburetor may not necessarily give you more power than stock, but it will give you more power than you have right now since it's not running properly.

You have a '68 442 with a 455...what heads are on it? Do you know anything else about the engine?

Well, I'll send you Danny's information and he can rebuild the Q-Jet. That'll make it run a ton better than it does now. Then if you want to add other stuff later on at least it will handle whatever you throw at it Check your pm

Hey Steve i wouldn't mind having that info for my future build. i have an electric choke and manual choke Q- jet and im using the performer RPM intake on a 79 350. Which one should i use if i were to send it to him?

I would go with the electic one if it was me. But then Im not steve so you didnt ask me . You can block the cross over and gain power and that way and you dont have to find or work with old linkage and parts to make it work with the intake.

Uh, don't ask me...my Q-Jet experience is limited to giving you the name of a guy that can build them correctly. My answer: A Holley HP 950? lmao!

I'll send you his info and you can ask him...or take FFG's advice. Check your PM.

Check the numbers on those carbs driver side on the carb body. See which one flows the most and try that one out! The electric choke fits many years. It may interchange between your carbs

The crossover is where the heat will come up and run the choke . If you block it you get a cooler intake or so the that is the reason ?? if it is a real deal or another speed trip . You can get gaskets with plates to block them or some will melt pistions to fill the void , or slugs can be fit to block it at the intake and head and intake .

Maybe a couple suggestions. From experience, a dual plane intake like the Edelbrock Performer, makes a lot more low end torque than a single plane. Don't think I'd use a Torker on a stock engine. Also, Q-Jets are excellant carbs, when properly set up for your engine/gearing combination. This can be a problem, when sending out the carb for your present stock set up, only having to do it again later, when changing cam, heads and exhaust later on. If you mention this to the carb builder, will likely give you break on later tuning. Lars Grimsrud and Cliff's Performance, are also very good with Q-Jets. Contact Lars v8fastcars@msn.com, and he'll send you his tuning papers at no charge, telling all about Q-Jets. Lots of good information here.

I would wait to do the cam when you are doing a proper rebuild. Just stick with the stuff that may need replacing now...water pump, fuel pump, timing chain, etc.

Your car should have posi but that's not to say someone didn't change it out during it's lifetime.

Well the heads are from a 1970 engine. The block you would need the vin derivative off the flat spot on the front left corner of the engine to know. Either way, it won't really give you an accurate horsepower number...especially if the engine had been rebuilt previously.
