1970 Cutlass SX, long gone.

The one that got away...
Back in the mid to late 1980s, I had a 1970 Cutlass SX. It was red and had a black vinyl top. It had a 455 and a factory Hurst shifter in it.
I had it when it turned 100k miles and I took some pictures of it on that occasion. When I find them, I'll upload them here.
One thing I remember about tuning it up was that last spark plug way back toward the firewall. Once I got it out, I realized the tune ups before my first had only been adding seven spark plugs. The one I pulled out of there was more than ten years old. It purred like a kitten after that. A kitten that drank a lot of gas.

The reason I joined this group is because my dad is tearing down his old barn and I'm helping him. Well, it's more like I'm tearing down the old barn and he's watching me. Either way, during the clean out, parts are starting to emerge. The pictures I've attached here are of headlight surrounds, two hood chrome moldings and a rear right marker lamp lens. I'll end up selling the parts on eBay unless somebody here wants them and we can work out a deal.

I can't figure out what the little L shaped molding is. That might be for a different car but, if you recognize it, please let me know! Thanks.
-Dave

The "L" is the fender molding that finishes off the long hood moldings. Goes on the leading edge of the fender. Unless it's just a bad picture, a) it doesn't look chrome and b) it doesn't look like it has the definition of the 70. Perhaps this is a fender molding for a 71-72?

The "L" shaped molding looks to be "eyebrow" molding like Mike says above.

Welcome to the site. If you still have the VIN # or know where it went when you sold it, you may be able to track it down via the registry in SX455.com, if you're interested in following up on it. The car may still be out there.

Good point. It is not chrome and doesn't appear to ever have been chrome. It is white paint. I really don't know why I would have this piece.
When I bought the car it had a fiberglass dual scoop hood. I rear-ended a Ford Escort almost immediately. I was 19 and unprepared for the weight of the car while stopping. Fortunately, the guy I bought it from had the original hood in his garage. So, I bought it and that's where the extra moldings come from...I think.

Eyebrow molding! I knew I should have been calling it something else.

The eyebrow molding for a 70 would have the same contour as the hood molding, and of course be chrome. Most likely this molding didn't go to your car, but was sitting around so it got thrown into the pile of parts.

here is a picture of the numbers on the back of the eyebrow molding. It is not the same contour as the hood moldings. Thanks for helping me with this.
