Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased a 70 cutlass S sedan (post). It's a California car and 99% rust free. I've always like this body style and finally broke down and purchased one. It's a 350 column shift, bench seat car. Was green on green originally. It's said to be numbers matching from front to rear including trans. None of the wiring has been cut and everything works as it should. For th price I couldn't pass it up even if it's non matching numbers. Runs drives stops and sounds great. The title states 56K actual miles and was just recently issued in April from out of New Hapshire. Supposedly it was only the for 2 years. The odometer shows 58K now and is functioning. Probably will never know if this is correct.

I recently been purchasing all the small parts it's missing (trim and interior). Someone started an amature body job and gave up and put it in rattle can grey prime. This is a non A/C car and I need a dash pad for it. There are no vents in the pad. Not in the center or ends. I would like to find one with out any cracks or damage. Any color would be fine. I will be starting the restoration in about a month after I finish my 52 chevy truck.

The heads have a 6 cast in the sides of them. I havent had time to do alot of research or run numbers but thought someone may have some knowledge on this sight. I was told the 6 meant it had the large valves but this is my first olds. It's a 2bbl 350 and everything seems to be inplace including all the sending units. It has a 12 bolt rear but like I said I haven't run any numbers yet.

Can anyone help me out on the dash pad?

Thanks for your time.

I will post some pics soon!!!

Congrats & good luck. #6 was standard head for 2BBL & 4BBL for 1970. Only W31 got bigger valves.

So is this a good indication that at least the heads are possible correct for the car?

Here are a couple of pics. I've included one of my truck. These aren't the best picks but better one will come soon.

I like the fact that it's a '70 Post car. I had a durable '70 350 2v Cutlass for a very long time.

BTW, "12-bolt rear" doesn't apply to Olds like it does Chevy; if original to the car, chances are your Olds rear has a smaller-than-Chevy 10-bolt ring gear. Also, if your #6 heads are original to the car, then the valves are 1.875 intake and 1.5625 exhaust. I have a green '70 dash pad but WITH vents. I'm sure someone on this site has a dash pad for you.

Thanks for the info. I kinda assumed that the rear wasn't as stought due to the prices on e-bay for them. It's not a posi unit either. I don't mind it being a post I just don't like restoring the vent window assemblies. they can be a pain in the you know what sometimes.

I aslo need an original hood extension. I see they make a fiberglass repro but I don't think that would last to long with all the abuse those take. Plus I want to keep it as original as possible.

I'm getting pretty excited on starting this project. But I can't until my truck is done. If I start on the cutlass the truck will never be finished.

Thanks again

Don
