Aussie Olds

Even though Ive been a member for quite sometime Ive at last got off my bum to post a couple of pics of my not long finished 1949-50 Australian assembled Olds,it was origanally a 4 door sedan cut a section out rear doors and welded into front, welded up rear doors, boxed chassis chopped screen 2 1/2 " used VW Golf screens. Runs 455 olds with Edelbrock heads mild cam, Edelbrock performer with twin 50 mm lpg gas carbs turbo 400 with a 2200 stall[not high enough] 9" rear with 2.7 gears. Great for cruisen but hopeless at the drags, best of 14.2 @97mph on bog standard street tyres, have some 3.5 gears for the next bash and might buy some slicks.P1010084.jpgP1010083.jpgP1010002.jpg

Welcome to CO

Saweet ride,

Great to have another Aussie on board. I like the right hand drive, it makes it look like the picture negatives were developed backwards

Cheers guys the colour is cyber green which is new VW beetle colour. Olds never made utes but chev did i think until 1952 you could adapt the olds front to chev. My next project which is underway is a 1951 ford ute its running a Tickford ford 5 litre with 4 speed auto and a 9" rear

How cool is that? That color is great on that car. We need to see more Ute's! and...is that a 67-68 Falcon next to it?? Special place in my heart for those.

Exceptional metal work on the transformation from a 4 door to a convertible! Amazing, best I can say. Glad to have you on CO!

That is a great looking OLDS. You have done yourself proud.

You should look for some '48 Olds 98 tail light lens. They are glass and fit right in. Has to be the '48 Olds 98 model.
