OLds cutlass F-85
Howdy! I have a 1962 Cutlass F-85 and live in the Pasadena, Ca area. I would like to fully restore my car beginning with the mechanics. She used to be my daily driver and with the right person working on her can be very reliable. Any recommendations would be welcome, thank you!
Welcome. As you may have already found out, parts for the 1961-63 cars are hard to come by. Steele Rubber has all the weatherstripping. Kanter is a source for suspension and steering parts, but they are pricey. SMS Interiors sells correct seat upholstery and will make door panels if needed (though they are expensive and take a long time). Engine parts are common with the Rover, since GM sold the aluminum 215 to Rover in the mid-1960s and Rover built them through 2006. Other than that, good used is about your only option for parts. Good luck.
Thanks to all who replied. I'm new to computers but pics are coming. Just found Car Parts Wholsale on line- they even had an ignition cylinder for 28 dollars, un heard of! I used to have to comb the junkyards! Found a mechanic in Arcadia, keep you posted. Thank you again for it is nice to find fellow fans.
I've always found that it is better to have it RIGHT, than right now. Take your time. Don't have a solid finish date as you may rush through something just to get it done. Down the road, you'll be happier if it is done correctly the first time.
