Question 394 question

I have a 1964 super 88 with a transplanted 1962(re-built?)394.I am new to this car so Im not sure what 394 version I have. The kid I bought the car from painted the valve covers and air cleaner(ford blue,GRRRRRR!)I can see a touch of red underneath, but see no chrome(like the starfire 345hp,).Its a 4v-carb so its the 320 or 345 hp version.the manifold has a D-1 mark and a 8 spoked circle.I would love to see some pictures of some correct 394s for restoration and identification. The carb. linkage is F.U.B.A.R.and I would like a good picture of that as well. The car body(1964)is pretty sound.I would also like some pictures of wheels offered. Its vin #is 854c014179.Thanks for reading this, and your help.

Cylinder head.. drivers side.. get the last letter of a numerical sequence found like an 1/8 of an inch below the valve cover lip on a smooth machined pad. It will tell you what version you have, but if you thinking its rebuilt, then its tough to tell what the previous owner did without ripping it apart

Welcome to CO, it is important to have that carburetor linkage correct because I think the transmission kick down is also part of that on your engine. We'll see what help is available, I am sure we can help you out.

Welcome aboard. The carb linkage is VERY important with the original Roto Hydramatic trans as it's adjustment affects the trans shift points in a big way. I can send photos of the stock carb and linkage on a 63 Starfire but not sure if that is the same as a 64, let some better experts chime in and let me know if the photos will help.
