hello forum people. i finally bought my classic car! i believe i really scored, i have a 72 cutlass that has been garaged since 1987. i seen it in a garage under about 2 inches of dust and the rest is history. the body is in great shape 99.9% rust free and only minor dings. the interior is just about mint. it looks great but i havent got it runnin yet and thats why im here, the project begins. heres some pics of my baby hopfully these pics will upload.

 

oh yeah its a 350with 104k on the motor. the carb was upgraded to a four barrell holly, the original owner took off the viynil top and had it painted do to some bubbling. its been sitting for a long time so any tips would be greatly apprciated. i have washed the car, more pics on the way.

 

welcome and thanks for the pictures. looks like a great car with nice options. if it sit since 87 you may need to clean the tank and clean the carburetor. i just got an 84 H/O that sit since 93 but it started right up and runs great so far so you may try it first. i just put a little gas down vent to the float bowl and just dribbled a little down the carb. it fired right up. i have done it to other cars that have sit for a long time and had to drip gas down into the fuel line going to the fuel pump, almost like i had to get it wet to prime it. would like to see the pics after you cleaned it.

 

congrats, you chose wisely I suggest going over every hose(rubber) and their connection points I ran into my brake lines to the rear collapsing 1000 miles down the road and the car was only stopping with fronts. This happened after a safety inspection by a professional so when in doubt check it out!!

 

I'm jealous. My roof don't look as good as that.

 

Really, really a nice find, congratulations and welcome to CO. I did notice the CS emblem on the c pillar and thought to myself 'that doesn't look right, there should be vinyl on that top'. We would love to see how that car cleaned up!

 

I love car finds like yours... a time machine! we need more pics.

Great find!, I found mine in the same condition sitting in the back of a shop. As mentioned before check all rubber lines and change your fluids, welcome to CO.

Looks like a very nice find - '72 Supremes with SSIs look great. Clean it up and enjoy it.

The C/S emblem is correct even without a vinyl top (not all Supremes had vinyl tops originally), but it's in the wrong spot. It should be a few inches further back - there are filled in mounting holes under there somewhere. That's a small detail to worry about later though. ; )

I am in the same boat as far as running my car- it has sat for 12 years so I have to drain the tank. I bought a fuel filter from NAPA with easily replaceable cartridges.
