62 Starfire HT Coupe

Hello to all and thanks for the welcome to the forum. I learned to drive on my fathers 1954 88 2dr HT; drove his 1960 Super 88 to my senior prom in 1963 and made that speedometer change from green to yellow to red more times then I could ever count!
I currently drive a 2006 C6 Corvette Coupe, a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am 20th Anniversary, Indy 500 Pace Car, and a 1966 Buick Skylark GS Convertible. My newest acquisition is a georgeous 1962 Starfire HT Coupe. The car was assembled during the first week of May, 1962, as I was finishing my junior year of high school, at the South Gate, CA plant. It is Provincial White over Sunset Mist with a medium gray interior. The car has a few "needs" which I will present here in hope of getting some assitence. The side panals rate about a 6 on a scale of 1-10; the rest of the car is a high 8. Are there any suggestions for improving the appearence of the side panals? The car is missing hood insulation, the cardboard and the fabric mat trunk materials, the glove box liner, both courtesy light len's that are on the interior rear of the roof above the package shelf and the "clips" that hold the spinner hub caps to the wheels. Would someone recommend a vendor(s) for these items? I am going to Carlisle next week and would like to get these items while I'm there if at all possible. I'm also looking for the owners manual and the shop manual(s) for the car. I look foward to interaction with the rest of you Olds owners and thank you in advance for any and all help and suggestions.

Welcome to CO

Sounds like a nice car. The 62 starfire is one of the best looking cars on the planet. Lets see some pictures.

Try http://www.fusick.com/ for the lens and other parts they are great to deal with.

Others who know the Starfire better then I do will comment on the trim issue

www.fusick.com will have everything but the side trim. Contact them ahead of time so they can pack it up for delivery to you there; they don't always bring everything for every car. As in you should probably contact them NOW. I expect they'll leave CT Monday or Tuesday to get set up at the show, and will probably load up over the weekend.

Oldskeeper here on the forum makes reproduction 62 side trim. A May car will have the "ding bead" moulding down the centerline of the trim from doors back. It was added in October 61 in response to owner complaints about door ding damage.

Sunset Mist to me is the definitive 1962 Starfire (or Ninety Eight FTM) color. Heather Mist and Pacific Mist run close second. Could not understand why Yat Ming did their 62 Starfire diecast model only in black or Garnet.
