another newbie!!!

Yes another newbie has arrived! Been playing with old cars and street rods for years and always had an idea that I should get back to the Olds's. Used to have a 53 back in the day with a 303 and 56 intake and heads. Got into a lot of trouble with that car.......that is a story for another day!
Last fall I picked up a model A coupe with a set of 32 Ford rails. Have an old school Merc flathead (255ci) all set to go in but in the back of my mind I had a thought that an old school Olds Rocket would be the ticket. So long story short, I found a 55 324 short block down in Md and will be picking that up soon. Got an angle on an Edelbrock 4x2 intake and at a recent swap meet picked up a bunch of old Schiefer stuff for the trans and a adapter to a GM late style trans. So I am gaining on the parts search and looking forward to being part of the Olds family again. Walt

Talking Welcome to CO

Sounds like you're building an old school rod. The early Olds engines are the best looking of any of the early conversions I have seen. Please post some pictures of your build

Thanks for the welcome. And yes it is going to be an old school rod right down to the aluminum bomber seats! Now all I have to do is find the time to finsish two other cars and then it is the A turn. Might get to it next summer by the looks of the schedule. LOL!
I will post pics as we go along. I am going to try to use a T5 five speed behind the 324. They are not known for their strength but it should work ok if I stay out of the pedal!
